10. The Fake Plane Crash
In the 1960s, the US army faked a plane crash to check how people would react when faced with death. The group of young soldiers, who were informed that their plane was about to make an emergency landing in the ocean, were asked to complete insurance forms. They were then told that the plane landed safely after filling out their forms. As expected, the soldiers made more mistakes in their forms compared to another group who filled out the forms on the ground.
