Netizen Zaldy Prieto stopped over at Caltex South Luzon Expressway or SLEX before Sta. Rosa, Laguna exit only to have some personal items stolen from him.
Zaldy found his car window smashed and saw that two bags, a laptop, and other belongings had been taken. When he reported it to authorities, he discovered he was the fifth person to report a similar incident.
Another netizen, Ronni Jay Paulino, posted in the comments section a post made by a Gareth Prieto who issued a warning as well to motorists along Sta. Rosa. According to the comment, based on the CCTV and witnesses’ accounts, the suspects were two ladies with bleached hair and two men (one of the identified as a Korean as confirmed by the restaurant staff). Gareth shared how he remembered them sitting across their table with the non-Korean guy facing him and staring the whole time. Gareth was irritated with this guy’s action and wanted tell him off, but opted not to to avoid any issue. “I honestly thought he’s just bastos [rude],” said Gareth.
Gareth also shared his observation that the two men sat far apart, unlike most friends or family. There were also the two women with the light hair, but they weren’t talking either and were just texting.
Upon watching the CCTV footage after the incident, they saw one of the men had been going in and out of the restaurant during the time they were there. According to the time on the video, the foursome had been these since 7 pm and they took off at around 9:20 pm.
Gareth said, “From the looks of it, they sure are capable of doing ‘other’ things. I am just thankful that nothing more serious than this happened.”
The Prietos issued a word of warning to the public to remain vigilant. Hopefully, the Sta. Rosa police are doing something about it. If this really has been the fifth time a robbery has happened, isn’t it about time they made the matter a higher priority? How many more motorists will be victimized and robbed and maybe even hurt before they take action?
