UPDATE
Gena Aquino posted her insights on the the original post of Manlulu to clarify the reports that have been going about that the first year student was kicked out of school.
Aquino explained the events of July 30, the day her class was supposedly “cancelled.” She said only four of her 42 students attended class. She asked the four who came in to contact their classmates. One student stepped up and told her she had supposedly announced on her Facebook page the cancellation of the class. That was how she found out about the fake account.
Through the help of Mapúa’s Development Office for Information and Technology (DOIT), she was able to identify the person behind the fake account. After the investigation, she set an appointment with the student in question. Aquino said, “We discussed the issue privately and, after hearing each other out, resolved things amicably. Contrary to reports, HE WAS NOT EXPELLED but he was advised to file a leave of absence due to personal circumstances.”
As of this writing, there have been many comments regarding how the student deserved to be expelled and how he was lucky enough to not have been sent to jail. Perhaps there will be more reactions regarding this matter, but it is high time to put the issue on a close and for all parties to move on. May this serve as a warning to all those who’ve had the same idea cross their minds at some point.
This is an isolated case as Aquino and her student came to an agreement and no further punishment was given. This may not be true in future or other cases as well since this is a punishable offense.

To think some people here are trying to justify the actions of the said student. Harsh perhaps but rules are rules. Nakasaad yan sa rulebook. If one disobeys the rule, one has to face the punishment as a consequence. And Mapua is a well-known school. If they don’t punish the culprit as per regulations, masisira naman ang integrity nila bilang institusyon. Trabaho lang. Walang personalan.
Ako minsan na ring naging student and minsan na rin ako nagcut ng class but NEVER I would resort to such tactics just to skip a class. And heck? Humanities? An easy-to-pass subject i-cucut pa? Tsong, wag mo naman balewalain ang efforts ng magulang mo.
can you also help me track the person who made an account using my name please?
Knino po ako pwedeng humingi ng statement about dito? Thanks
