Oshiya, or train pushers or stuffers, are people employed to push people into a train to make sure all the free space is utilized. They can be found mainly in Japan, where commuting by train is part and parcel of daily life. And in a densely populated metropolis like Tokyo, the rush hour commute can get awfully crowded indeed. Supposedly, some oshiya are retired sumo wrestlers. But most are students working part-time jobs and are only on-call during rush hour.
