Filipinos all know how the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal is considered to be one of the worst in the world, but can you really fault the people working there if you find something that you do not like about the airport?
That’s how netizens felt after watching the videos shared by ABS-CBN Regional Network Group (RNG) News Head, veteran broadcast journalist Charie Villa on the Facebook page Tao Po. Based on her posts on the NGO’s FB page, she and her companions felt that the PA (public address) system at NAIA Terminal 3 was too loud and should be toned down to let passengers wait for their flights in peace.
Feeling stressed about the PA system’s volume, she called NAIA public affairs head Connie Bungag to complain about it, Villa revealed in a separate post. She was told that the PA system was faulty and that NAIA T3 manager Bing Lina was already advised about the issue.
Afterwards, Villa and her companion went to Gate 115 to tell the ground crew of an airline about their problem. To serve as “evidence,” Villa decided to videotape the encounter and later posted it on Facebook (Video 1, Video 2) although a ground crew would later admonish her (in a comment on the original post) for doing so and reminding the journalist that she had promised not to upload the video on social media.
With Tao Po being “a movement trying to effect good change in our society,” Villa believes it was necessary to post the video of their conversation with the ground crew in hopes that they could “point out things that need to be improved.”
The move backfired, however, as many netizens took the side of the ground crew. Netizens praised the crew for calmly handling the situation while bashing Villa about her attitude and action.
