The corpse flower got its name from the rotting smell it emits. Add to it its massive size (with flowers reaching up to 3 meters tall), this plant is indeed really creepy to have around. The flower releases powerful odors to attract pollinators, insects which feed on dead animals and are attracted to the smell of rotting animals. The aroma gradually increases from late evening until the middle of the night and then tapers off as morning arrives.
