Concerned netizen Karren Acoba Dela Cruz posted photos of a woman who was seen allegedly attempting to kidnap a boy in Barangay 844 in Pandacan, Manila. Fortunately, the woman failed in her attempt and was taken to the police station for questioning.
At the station, the woman admitted to being a part of a group that goes around Pandacan to kidnap children.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) has been working on eliminating rampant kidnapping, thus they appreciate the help of citizens and netizens such as Dela Cruz in spreading information for the protection of citizens and visitors to the country. The AKG conducts police operations and investigations on kidnapping and hostage situations with the active support of the community. The group has also been tasked to develop a database of known kidnappers and accomplices for the guidance and reference of local residents.
This woman has already been put in kidnapper database. Some netizens, however, commented that putting the woman in jail for attempted kidnapping is not enough.
[That woman should be forced to name all her accomplices and reveal where they take the children they kidnap. Their mastermind must be apprehended, but I think the police are in cahoots with them as well. Unfortunately, that seems to be the problem because they’re on the side of powerful people.]”
Other netizens seconded Castillo’s opinion and even said that the woman should have a harsher punishment. Dela Cruz, along with many other netizens, however, posted a warning instead to all family members to be extra careful and be watchful of their children at all times.
