Students publicly admit to cheating in Mechanical Engineering Board Exam

A series of screenshots taken by George William Ong revealed several students publicly admitted to cheating in the board exams for mechanical engineers.

In one Facebook post, an unidentified exam-taker, who confessed to cheating in the exam, urged people not to judge individuals who cheat on exams as they have reasons for doing so. The netizen who posted the message reasoned that some resorted to cheating to be able to help their parents who sacrificed a lot just to send them to school.

The controversial post earned numerous likes and comments from netizens. In fact, several netizens aired the same sentiments.

One commenter even pointed out that it doesn’t matter if they got their license out of copying since they also worked hard to earn it.

In contrast, one student challenged exam-takers to look at the bigger perspective rather than focus on the result of the exam.

“Would you really be proud to say that you got a license because you cheated? We should always see the bigger perspective in things. Having a license should reflect that we know enough about the filed we are in in such a way that we can be assigned to plants as big as 2000 KW.”

Ong’s post earned various negative comments from netizens who expressed their disappointment over the students’ justification for cheating. One commenter urged Ong to keep a copy of the students’ names and have them reported.
