China. A local fisherman from Sichuan province caught a mysterious “creature” while fishing in the waters near Chengdu last Tuesday.
When the villagers brought it onto the shore, they closely examined the yellow object and found that it weighed 6.5kg, around 30-40cm wide with a long tail attached to the body. Part of its body was also covered with black barnacles.
According to Shanghaiist, it has yet to be confirmed if the ugly-looking blob is a carbon-based life form, living or dead, organic or synthetic.
The fisherman has a strong feeling it may be the rare “Taisui” lingzhi mushroom. The mushroom was consumed by Qing dynasty emperors, believing it would add more years to their life and bring great fortune to their empire. Even today, locals use it for medicine and consider it a symbol of longevity. However, the object must undergo a series of tests first to determine what it is.
Time Green says, if the “:creature” is proven to be a huge lingzhi mushroom, the fisherman could definitely make a huge profit from it.
