To cater to Japan’s rapidly aging population, new high-tech health gadgets that aim to promote healthier lifestyle went on display at the ME-BYO Japan 2015 conference in Yokohama.
Coming from the Japanese word Mibyo, which means pre-disease, the ME-BYO conference hopes to encourage elderly people to remain active and healthy to ultimately decrease problems linked to the country’s aging population.
Here are some of the bizarre health gadgets unveiled at the conference.
Smart toilet that analyzes pee
Created by Toto, the world’s largest toilet manufacturer, the smart toilet determines a range of diseases a user is at risk of every time he or she urinates. A sensor called the uroflowmeter measures changes in volume over time and calculates the urine volume and flow rate. A reading is provided shortly after the user is done using the toilet.
