The popularity of the phenomenal AlDub tandem is comparable to that of ’70s love team of Guy and Pip.
During the “Gaya Gaya Pa More” grand finals in the November 7 episode of Eat Bulaga, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza impersonated the famous love team of Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III.
The two love teams’ effects on the public have striking similarities.
Their performance probably inspired a netizen to devise a mathematical equation that made a connection between the two sensational love teams.
By adding and subtracting the numerical elements of the date Guy and Pip met, October 6, 1967, the unidentified netizen was able to come up with numbers 7 and 16, which was interpreted as July 16, the date of Aldub’s first meeting.
Check out the equation below.
From 1969 until the late ’70s, the team up of Aunor and Cruz generated more than 40 box-office hits and musicals. Since both Aunor and Cruz are singers, the pair also popularized songs such as “Together Again,” “Tiny Bubbles,” “Maria Leonora Teresa,” and “Pearly Shells.”
The two had a romantic relationship, but eventually called it quits. Cruz married Lynn Ynchausti-Cruz , while Aunor was with involved with several men after her marriage with actor Christopher de Leon was dissolved in 1996.
