A recent post by netizen Orion Perez has been making the rounds on social media. The said post attempted to explain and rationalize what makes most supporters of Presidential aspirant and former Davao Mayor Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte tick, specifically what runs in the minds of the unruly and more “passionate” supporters of Digong.
Perez made a comparison between a character from The Terminal (a 2004 film starring Tom Hanks)—a desperate Russian man who comes into conflict with airport/custom officers about undocumented drugs he purchased for his ailing father—and unruly online Duterte supporters. He said that they are both basically desperate.
Perez admitted he is a supporter of the former Davao mayor and one of the many desperate “thinking” Filipinos who have had enough with how the current government has “mismanaged” the country, its resources, and its people. Perez seemed to imply that the unruly behavior of most supporters are justified, but condemned those who went to extremes.
