Trillanes on April 27 claimed that Duterte failed to declare P211 million in his 2014 Statement of Assets and Liabilities (SALN) as required by law. The senator gave details of the expose to various news media organizations including Inquirer.

In various interviews, Trillianes challenged the Davao Mayor to sue him, even offering to resign if ever his claims against Duterte were proven false.

“That is just the tip of the iceberg. You have no idea how wealthy Duterte is.”

“I received the information through my various networks. Mayor Duterte who brags that he is not corrupt and is a simple and poor man should be asked to explain about his secret bank accounts that contained at least P200 million,” Senator Trillanes said.

Sen. Trillianes emphasized that he is not exposing Mayor Duterte’s alleged undeclared wealth to simply boost his own standing in various election surveys. He stated that he has done the same for Vice-President Jejomar Binay’s alleged corruption cases in the senate. Trillanes states that he is simply doing his job.

“I stand by my track record in exposing political pretenders,” Sen. Trillanes added.

Trillanes then challenged all Presidential candidates to sign a waiver for the Bank Secrecy Law so people can see who has something to hide.

In various television news interviews on Aprils 27, the Davao City Mayor simply denied all these allegations from Trillanes. He accused the Senator of being “for hire” and of using the expose to boost his survey rankings.
