SWIFT AND SMOOTH PERFORMANCE
The Zenfone 2 Laser is running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and has the Zen UI skin on it. It has a 64-bit Qualcomm S410 CPU and a 400 MHz Adreno 306 GPU. It also has a 2 GB of RAM, which makes the phone really responsive. We just don’t know if ASUS will update this phone to Android Marshmallow anytime soon.
Compare to stock Android, the Zen UI has a more practical approach. Most of the settings needed to manually adjust the phone can be seen in the notification bar.
One thing we didn’t like about the Zenfone 2 Laser is the amount of bloatware installed. We ended up uninstalling them one by one or disabling them. Since it has only a 32 GB internal storage, we suggest on using an external memory card to deal with the limited storage capacity.
When it comes to gaming, the Zenfone 2 Laser is able to play most of the graphically demanding games smoothly. Lags occasionally appear among highly intensive HD games, maybe because of the low RAM and the graphics chip that it has. Nonetheless, launching applications or playing your favorite games is surely a joyride.
The Zenfone 2 Laser’s Five-Magnet Speakers promise to deliver high-quality sound experience to its users, but we find it not loud enough. Outdoors, it is barely audible while placing it flat on the table produces a slightly muffled sound.
