7. Crafted constitutionally-sound alternative to Bangsamoro Basic Law
In 2015, BBM submitted a substitute measure to the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), with 80% of the provisions amended. Believing that the original version of the BBL is “unconstitutional” and will lead the country to “perdition,” Marcos believes that his version is more inclusive of the interests of other major stakeholders such as the Moro National Liberation Front and the “Lumads.”
8. Authored bills in response to climate change and natural disasters
In order to ensure that children are given immediate special assistance during calamities, BBM authored a Senate version of the Children’s Emergency Relief and Protection Act. Moreover, he also authored a Senate version of the PAGASA modernization act to increase the salaries of the personnel and upgrade the equipment of the country’s weather bureau.
