Recognized as one of the most intellectually brilliant leaders of the country, Santiago earned various postgraduate degrees with flying colors from prestigious universities in the world. Aside from being the class valedictorian at all school levels, Santiago attained a near-perfect-average grade of 1.1 in her last undergraduate semester at the University of the Philippines.
8. Considered as one of the most powerful women in the world
Together with TV personality Oprah Winfrey, former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and religious icon Mother Teresa, Santiago was recognized as one of the 100 most powerful women in the world in 1997 by an Australian Magazine.
