12. Jose Rizal – the recognized Philippine National Hero, Jose Rizal is also known as the greatest man from the Malay race.
His writings about the abuses of Spaniards in the Philippines led Filipinos to revolt in order to gain freedom. This also led to his execution on December 30, 1896. He was first buried at Paco Cemetery and later on transferred to his current grave site at Rizal Park/Luneta in Manila.
13. Ninoy Aquino – the Senator who fought the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos. He was assassinated at the Manila International Airport on August 21, 1983. His remains are at the Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque.
