14. Jose Abad Santos – former Chief Justice Jose Abad Santos was known for his nationalism. He was asked to renounce allegiance to the country to be spared by the Japanese forces but he refused. He was executed in Lanao on May 7, 1942. His remains weren’t recovered and properly buried.
15. Claro M. Recto – poet, playwright, and essayist, former Senator Claro M. Recto was considered as the “finest mind of his generation”. He was known for his nationalism and for the impact of his patriotic convictions on modern political thought. He died on October 2, 1960 and was buried at Manila North Cemetery.
