MANILA, Philippines. Pinoy fans of the highly-anticipated augmented reality game Pokemon Go finally had the chance to catch Pokemons beginning Saturday, August 6, after the game was officially launched in the country.
The mobile game proved to be a huge hit among Filipinos as it became a trending topic on various social media platforms in the country. In a matter of hours after its launch, social media feeds were filled with photos of users catching Pokemon creatures in various places.
But before going out to catch them all, here are some helpful tips and reminders shared by netizen Jay Chiu on the Facebook page MindaHub.
Reminders:
- Avoid stopping suddenly when walking in public as this can lead to an accident. Keep in mind that the Pokemon won’t disappear once you engage it.
- Be cautious wherever you go. Never trespass onto private property or enter places you perceive as dangerous. Note that you don’t need to literally go in front of a stop. You can activate it as long as it’s within radius.
- Be aware of pickpockets and snatchers who may take advantage of you while you’re playing the game.
- Don’t ignore your loved ones for the sake of catching Pokemons. Don’t let the game rob you of real-world experience and social interactions.
- Refrain from using foul words as young children also play this game.
Tips:
- Practice playing basketball on Facebook’s messenger app. This will help you be better at throwing poke balls.
- Note that as the inner circle, which will be your target, gets smaller, the bigger the chance of you catching the Pokemon if you hit the target in the middle. The color of the circle also indicates the difficulty of catching the Pokemon, with yellow and then red being progressively harder
- Riding a bike, car, train, ship or plane might not help you hatch eggs as the incubation is a combination of GPS movement and the accelerometer. Unless of course, you’re stuck in traffic crawling on EDSA.
