Virsaviya Borun, 7 years old, a Russian native, was born with her heart outside of her chest.
This lovely young girl suffers from a rare congenital condition, Pentalogy of Cantrell. This only happens in less than one in a million births. This rare condition caused her intestines to protrude from her stomach. Medically speaking, she lacks muscles in her diaphragm and abdominal section.
Dari Borun, mother of Virsaviya, moved to the United States taking her daughter with her from her home country, Russia. She sought for a better medical treatment, and found a doctor in Boston who said they were willing to help. Two years is what the doctors asked for. They have to wait for Borun to grow older and have a more balanced blood pressure.
Despite these series of good news, Dari is struggling for their expenses. She’s a single mom and they don’t have a family here.
I don’t have a family here. It’s just me and Virsaviya, but now I feel like I have a family because a lot of people just caring about us. They love us. They want to help,” the mother said after raising their first 34,000 dollars through the crowdfunding site, YouCare.
The two were featured on NBC in November 2015, and now has almost 72,000 dollars on YouCare. Dori decided to move to Florida for the cozy weather, which is important for Virsaviya’s condition. She cannot be in cold weather, the mother said. When they were in Boston, the same cold weather made her daughter sick.
Staying Positive
While waiting for the doctors’ ‘go’ signal, the only thing they can do for now is to be strong. The little girl admitted she loves dancing and drawing. Evident to her beautiful face, Virsaviya can be a successful actress or a model someday.
One of their hobbies is posting photos on Instagram. Dari has nearly 50,000 followers and Virsaviya is the star of her account.
