Philippines is one of the countries known for the purest and cleanest hearts of its citizens. But on the other hand, the nation is also notorious for its dirty and polluted creeks. Usually, if creeks and canals are looked closely into, lots of wastage can be seen such as plastic bags, used diapers and other kinds of garbage thrown by the locals.
Although environmental organizations are trying their best to restore these creeks by implementing activities, sometimes it is just not enough.
However, the local community of Iligan City proved that there is still a chance to regain the lost glamour of every bodies of water. The Facebook page of Explore Iligan PH proudly shared the ultimate transformation which amazed thousands of netizens.
We quote, “Clean and Green Baslayan in Purok de Oro, Zone 3, Poblacion. The once polluted creek is now a beautiful pond for Kois to thrive. An exemplary example of a community in action.”
In the pictures uploaded in the page, the Kois are delightfully swimming around the creek, which also became wonderful scenery for the locals to watch.
The Filipino netizens thought that if it is possible in Iligan City, it means that it is also doable for the other communities around the country.
The development of Iligan City’s creek is a proof that if there’s a will, there is indeed a way. “Action takes many forms, and every action counts.”
