Breastfeeding in public became an issue not only in the country, but also internationally. Some people say that it is improper to feed an infant when a mother is in public places such as a restaurant or inside a moving vehicle.
The issue is making a lot of mothers disappointed saying that everyone was fed through breastfeeding once in their life, which is why they cannot understand why people are making a big deal out of it.
A certain Facebook user named Reijo del Prado, who is a husband of a breastfeeding mother, addressed this issue once and for all not only for his wife but for the all mothers as well.
Read his post below:
“Ok. Let me get this straight.
It’s a picture of my wife nursing my little one in public.
Some will say ‘Teka dapat may cover!’, others will say ‘Dapat d’un sa banyo!”, at yung iba “Wala ba lugar dito para magpadede?!””
Indeed, there are a lot of people who would say those kinds of statements after seeing an infant being fed by his mother. But why do people make it seem like it is wrong?
“I’ll give you 3 questions to ponder.
- Can you eat comfortably while being covered in the face all the time?
- Can you imagine yourself eating in a public toilet?
- Kung gutom na gutom ka na, at di ka makakain, ano pakiramdam mo?
Anyways, I’m just proud to see how my wife takes care of my little one.
Pleasant evening!”
The netizens who had seen del Prado’s post agreed that there is nothing wrong for a mother to breastfeed her child.
As a mother, it is her responsibility to nurse for her infant from the day of her pregnancy and until the child grows up. Therefore, breastfeeding is not a kind of an immoral act which should be condemned by anyone.
After all, it depends on the perception of a person who had seen such happening if it is malicious for them or not. At the end of the day, it is still the welfare of the infant that matters, not the prying eyes and harsh comments of a person.
