Whenever a person needs a document from a public office, it is usually unpleasant as the long lines are already expected whatever day of the week it might be. This alone is one of the reasons why people don’t like engaging into such transactions.
However, to everyone’s dismay, it seems like the long lines are not only the main reason why people would refuse coming to a public office.
An OFW named Angel Smith, vented out on her social media account after allegedly being treated harshly by an OWWA Employee. She also included a title saying, “Ang Bastos na Empleyado ng OWWA Legaspi!” (The rude employee of OWWA Legaspi.)
Before she began telling the story, she had apologized first handedly.
According to Smith, last April 24th, she went to POEA Legaspi to get an OEC which she needs when she goes back to Bahrain. She went to the office, but she was told by the guard that she needs to pay first in the OWWA office located in the 3rd floor of the building.
She agreed and followed what she was told. Smith was greeted by a woman in the reception who had explained nicely that she needs to pay an amount of P 1,257.00 and what it was for. The receptionist then told her to head over to the cashier’s window to pay the abovementioned amount.
Here’s how their conversation went:
ME: Binigay ko na ‘yong form, sabay abot ng 2000 pesos.
OWWA CASHIER: Walang barya! (Padabog na sagot)
Smith checked her wallet to look for a lower bill, and found 500 pesos which she handed over to the cashier. As said by Smith, she was annoyed because the woman was frowning, had her lips twitching and seemed like she was also irritated for whatever reason. Smith wanted to say something but stopped herself as she feared that she might say something improper, and took a photo of the cashier instead.
OWWA CASHIER: Oh yong sukli mo! (Padabog ulit!)
While Smith was checking her change, while looking at her, the cashier spoke again.
OWWA CASHIER: O, ano na?! Tapos na! Magkano ba sukli ko!?
This time, Smith was already furious but still managed to calm herself down before saying thank you and smiling at her.
To end her post, she shared her thoughts not only about the woman but to the future employees as well.
Based on the picture, there was a sign in the window saying, “Pls. Pay Exact Amount,” which might be the reason why the cashier was annoyed the whole time Smith was paying.
The netizens who had seen the post thought that the sign which wasn’t followed is the reason why the employee was mad. However, there are also a few who said that the woman should’ve treated her nicely instead of holding a grudge, and there are some who couldn’t give their opinion as the cashier just might be stressed out that day.
In conclusion, people should still learn how to respond to a client or customer nicely. Even when they are experiencing a load of issues as of the moment, it would be wonderful if they won’t drag other people into their problems.
Last tip: Make a research beforehand to know how much fees are needed to be paid to be able to prepare the exact amount before coming to the office.
