A concerned Facebook user alarmed other netizens after he shared their awful experience in a store inside a shopping mall in Batangas.
According to Jessmarc Lloyd Gammad, they went to a certain store inside the mall with the intention of purchasing a swimwear for his wife. At that time, there was only one staff inside, who is also a male. The woman went to the changing room to fit a one-piece swimsuit which was on display as the woman agreed to try on the one on display instead of getting a new stock.
When Gammad’s wife went inside, the male staff also left and went to their stock room. He thought the man would not take his time since there are also other customers he needs to attend to. However, Gammad noticed that the staff didn’t return the whole time the woman was changing.
He then asked the staff where he went, who noticeably came from a small room upstairs.
Gammad’s wife tried on a second swimwear, and the staff went back upstairs once again. This time, he asked his wife to stop fitting the swimsuit as he was already uncomfortable with the staff’s actions. When the woman was about to pay for the items, another male staff came in carrying some food. He overheard their conversation and included it in his post.
The phrase, “Nabusog na ‘ko,” is not only used to refer someone who had just eaten food. Sometimes, it is also used as an expression when a person catches sight of someone else’s body.
Upon hearing the conversation, Gammad even became more suspicious. He asked his wife to pay for the clothes while he entered the same changing room his wife had used earlier – which led him to seeing a whole in the room’s ceiling.
The man went to the staff and asked why there is a hole in the ceiling and why are they letting the customers use it, which the staff answered by saying it was already reported to the management a few months ago. To confirm his suspicion, he also asked them why he left the store unattended the whole time his wife was trying on a swimwear. Doubtfully, the staff said that he was just fixing something upstairs.
They filed a complaint to the mall’s management, but when they returned to gather some evidences, the hole was already covered by a piece of paper.
Gammad was fuming as he felt like his wife’s privacy was invaded unknowingly. He also gave his insights as to why he really thinks the staff peeped at the woman.
Just after his post, he gave an update regarding the store management’s immediate and fair response to their case after the store’s manager contacted them through his social media. According to them, the staff was already terminated for committing two major offenses such as leaving his post unattended and for failing to report the situation soon enough. They had an administrative hearing with the head office and the accused staff.
Many more authorized persons came to their aid and accommodated them properly.
On the other hand, the branch manager of the store admitted that the room was visible in the upper deck because of the said hole, which might confirm that Gammad’s guts were right. As of the moment, they are waiting for CCTV footage and the confirmation of the other male staff for their conversation.
Meanwhile, the netizens got alarmed of such incident and tagged their friends and relatives to be extra careful when using any store’s changing room. According to them, other fitting rooms should also be inspected to prevent this occurrence from happening again.
In this scenario, the finger should solely be pointed to the perverted staff who tried to take advantage of the customer. Also, each store should thoroughly check the background of whomever they are intending to hire to avoid any negative impression to be reflected to the store’s reputation.
