MoneyGram, a leader in providing innovative money transfer and payment services all over the world, pays tribute to thousands of Overseas Filipino Workers’ (OFW) who endure distance and time away from their loved ones.
MoneyGram Idol Awards
First of its kind. This event is organized and launched by the money transfer company that aims to recognize OFW families. This year, a total of 35 OFW families were recognized in a memorable event at Solaire Resort and Casino.
Out of the 35 families, ten major prizewinners will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Manila where they will enjoy a three-day stay at Solaire Resort and Casino and celebrate a special dinner. Each lucky winner will also have the opportunity to meet Robin Padilla, MoneyGram brand ambassador and take home cash prize worth Php. 20,000 with paid tax. Not letting the rest of the families down, MoneyGram gives Php. 5,000 to the remaining 25 families as their consolation prize.
Another Hero
Working abroad for your family is brave and heroic, considering the hardships you would encounter while doing your job–the homesickness, that no matter how bad you wanted to go home and be with your family, you will endure the pain and work even harder for them.
But we tend to overlook at the families they left in the country, OFW families, as we call them now. They share equal pain and struggles as well, they have no choice but to adjust the long-term absence of their loved one especially to those who is a pillar for the whole family. Adding to this, the agony every time they have to endure the absence of their OFW loved one in special occasions. Most especially, their children’s struggle in growing up apart from them.
Robin Padilla in this year’s Idol Awards
The MoneyGram Ambassador, Robin Padilla graced the event giving out red roses to the women of our OFW Families. Also, he performed several songs for everyone’s entertainment. He shared his experiences and thoughts to our families, inspiring and encouraging them even more.
To be with their family is but a dream to our OFWs. The least thing we can do for them is to help out their families. As the most popular motto of every OFW goes, “Pwedeng mapuyat, pero hindi pwedeng mapagod,” as they turn nights to days, giving them recognition is just a little amount of giving back to their heroic efforts–and MoneyGram leads the way for this.
