Last May 4, 2017, the netizens were set abuzz by the photos of a blue marlin fish with intricate tattoos on its skin. The post was from the Facebook account of Daryl Gutierrez – which immediately went viral.
The remarkable sea animal was caught in Lopez Jaena, Misamis Occidental and piqued the interest of many locals.
Given the fact that it had been shared on the internet, a lot of netizens shared their wild guesses and jokes about the reason why the fish had tattoos on its skin.
Some of them even related it to the movie “Moana” because of the character named Maui who can transform into an animal, and is a tattooed guy as well.
While the others thought that it was a threat to the environment.
The news had spread like wildfire and later on reached the fisherman named Zosimo Tano, who caught the 24-kilo blue marlin and sold it in the local market.
According to Tano, the fish didn’t have tattoos when he caught it. He said, he used his shirt to cover the fish, and realized that the print of the shirt is exactly the same as what the people called, “tattoos.”
Tano even showed the exact same shirt he used to cover the fish as a proof.
The truth is: the shirt’s print and the slimy skin of the fish are the main contributors as to why the print had been embedded to the animal’s skin.
The unusual incident is pretty similar to the chewing gums that come along with temporary tattoos which kids attach to their skin back in the day.
