A 47-year-old middle school teacher in Colorado killed herself in front of the police as they approached her home as part of a scandalous investigation. According to the reports, she allegedly had sex with her student.
Longtime, well-respected teacher commits suicide
Gretchen Krohnfeldt, was working at Drake Middle School in Arvada where authorities reported that an employee claimed to have witnessed a sexual interaction between her and a male student months ago.
CBS News reports that Arvada police said that the relationship began when the student, who just recently turned high school, attended Gretchen’s class in Drake Middle.
The alleged act of promiscuity happened in the teacher’s home, police said. The mother-of-three was placed on leave by the officials of the middle school.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office did not elaborate how Gretchen took her own life, but is still under investigation by the coroner.
On the other hand, Jefferson County Public Schools released a statement that said:
“On Monday, May 8, a school staff member reported a possible relationship between one Jeffco student and a teacher at Drake Middle School. The principal immediately called law enforcement and school district personnel. The teacher was immediately placed on administrative leave. We were informed that on Tuesday, May 9, the teacher passed away.”
