MANILA, Philippines – After malicious reports linking ABS-CBN reporter Chiara Zambrano with a fallen soldier assigned in Marawi City circulated on social media, the journalist has decided to shed light on the issue.
On June 2, Zambrano shared the heartbreaking story of her brief yet memorable encounter with a Marines soldier who jokingly told her that he would court her upon his return from the ongoing war in Marawi City.
Sadly, TSG Aldrin ‘Tap’ Dinglasan of Marine Special Operations Group (MARSOG) wasn’t able to come back alive.
Zambrano’s post quickly made the rounds on social media garnering more than 121,000 reactions and over 25,000 shares.
Putting words in her mouth
Shortly after Zambrano’s narrative became trending on social media, a number of news sites picked up her story and claimed that the journalist had a short-lived romance with the fallen soldier.
Zambrano once again took to social media to clarify the issue and emphasize that Dinglasan was just joking with her to make his comrades laugh prior to their battle with the Maute group.
