- An OFW’s son named Hans Alcanzare shared a heartwarming post on his social media account.
- He shared how his mother endured being away from her children just to be able to be a good provide for them.
- Since all her children had graduated already, they decided to give her the ultimate reward for her hard work.
Being an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) is one of the toughest professions a person can have. Aside from the nature of work required by foreigners, being apart from family is never an easy thing as homesickness is not easy to fight off.
Despite of all the challenges of being an OFW, they still manage to disregard the sad feeling of being alone in a foreign country just to provide for their family’s needs. On the other hand, their children repay their efforts by doing a good job in their studies to let their parents know that their hard work is not being put to waste.
One of the proud sons of an OFW is Hans Alcanzare.
His mother worked abroad for twenty long years to give her family a better life, and when all of her children finally graduated from college, they gave her the ultimate gift that warmed her heart.
Read his touching post below:
“Hi Ma, it’s time to go home! Finally, dumating na ang araw ng Graduation mo! I know excited kana at Susunduin na kita dahil overstaying kana dito sa Hongkong. I still remember I was still 6 years old nang iwan mo kaming pitong magkakapatid para makipagsapalaran dito sa HK to give us a better life and good education na paulit ulit mong sinasabi na yun lang maipapamana mo.”
Alcanzare shared that his mother left when he was at a young age, and finally she won’t be working anymore now that her children have all graduated.
“Sa aming magkkapatid. Galit na galit ako sayo noon ng iwan mo kami kasi diko pa naiintindihan lahat why you have to leave us. Di naging madali ang lahat para sa atin dahil maraming pagsubok ang dumaan at halos magkawatak watak pa tayo. I couldn’t imagine how hard it is for you makatanggap ng masasamang balita galing from Pinas habang nagpapakapagod ka. Di rin madali ang Nagpalipat lipat tayo ng tirahan at ng school.”
He admitted that he was mad back then to his mother as he didn’t understand why she had to leave them on their own – which he was sorry for. But as he grew up, he realized how big of a sacrifice his mother had done just to be a good provider for their family.
Moreover, their family faced a lot of challenges throughout the years that almost torn them apart. Fortunately, they were able to remain as one despite of the storms that they had gone through.
“After 20 years of working hard and sacrifice heto na nagbunga narin ang pangarap mo para sa aming lahat. Look at us now, di mo namamalayan you already have produced an Certified Public Accountant, A Licensed Teacher, A Registered Nurse, A Pharmacist and Midwife, A Civil Engineer and Registered Master Plumber, and soon to have an Information Technologist. Looking back, di madali ang lahat para sa atin, marami tayong paghihirap na pinagdaanan. Sa pangungutang mo kung kani kanino para may pangtuition kami at sa laging pagadvance kay Mr. Lee na wala ka nang swinesweldo makabayad lang ng utang. Ma, we owe you a lot.”
While his mother was working as hard as she could, she didn’t realize that she had already produced a bunch of professionals in the family. She was able to raise each of her children successfully even when she was far from them.
“Di kami makakarating kung nasaan man kami ngayon kung di dahil sayo. We are so blessed to have a mom like you na hindi sumuko sa amin. Di tayo pinabayaan ni Lord at andyan lang sya ginagabayan tayo para maging matatag at matupad ang pangarap mo para sa amin at ngayon may magandang buhay na at may masasayang pamilya na ang iba. Gusto ko din magpasalamat sa mga kaibigan ni mama na walang sawang tulungan sya sa hirap at sa ginhawa. The best po kayo Maraming Salamat! Kaya Ma, Today, your Graduation has come and finally you’ll be free from stress and work. In behalf of my siblings I am congratulating you! Job well done my mom! It’s been a long hard years kaya It’s time for you to enjoy life naman. Kaya before you go home for good, let’s have an ASEAN TRIP. All expense paid! We love you Mom! So First Stop, Singapore!”
Alcanzare thanked his mother in behalf of his siblings and acknowledge all the efforts she had done just to make their family survive.
In connection with this, her children decided to give her a little surprise by treating her into an ASEAN Trip – which the expenses are all shouldered by her children!
Alcanzare knows that this alone isn’t enough compared to everything his mother had done for them, but at least he and his other siblings can treat her for a trip that she truly deserves.
The Facebook users who had seen his post were amazed by the achievements their family had gotten over the years. Some of them even wished that they would be blessed with a children like them.
Alcanzare’s mother wasn’t even expecting a gift as grand as the all-expense-paid trip. For her, what matters is the fact that she was able to properly raise each of her children, who are all educated and well-mannered.
