New Attraction Site in Leyte, Damaged By Tourists on Opening Day

A new tourist attraction in Leyte has been creating a buzz online for its beautiful concept, perfect to end the summer season. But 24 hours after its opening, a saddening news has reached the authorities.

16,000 Blossoms, a newly-opened tourist site in Baybay City, Leyte was later on confirmed ‘damaged’ due to violations committed by some tourists. According to some witnesses, despite all the warnings and prohibitions, visitors still posed in the middle of the plastic flowers.

Photos were posted online that ‘drew flak’ on netizens and city officials.

The official Facebook account of Baybay City named Discover Baybay City even posted pictures of a couple and a woman posing in the middle of the roses. This led to the damage of the LED bulbs of the roses and their electrical connections.

Government takes action

Baybay City’s tourism office allegedly collected the photos that clearly violated their warnings. They are said to be ‘currently considering measures of action to prevent the repeat of the incident’.

The “16,000 Blossoms” is located on Lintaon Peak. It is a man-made tourist attraction patterned after Cebu’s “10,000 Flowers Cafe”.
