- A Facebook netizen named Lembot Dineros shared an infuriating scene she experienced with a taxi driver.
- She paid the exact amount as what was indicated in the taxi meter, but the driver insisted that she needs to add P40 for picking up her daughter.
- Dineros agreed with what the man wanted but the driver gave him P800 saying he doesn’t have smaller bills.
Cabs are what people resort to when they are in a rush or when they don’t want to wait for too long in the public terminal.
Taxi drivers can make the trip faster as they also know shortcuts in case heavy traffic comes in and to speedup the trip, which is why people prefer taking a cab rather than other public vehicles. However, being a passenger of regular taxis have a lot of downsides that make most passengers refuse to ride.
And one of the said issues are the crocodile drivers – the ones who ask for an overpriced fare even though their meters have already indicated a specific amount.
Just recently, another netizen named Lembot Dineros had the same experience when she rode with a regular taxi.
She paid the amount indicated on the driver’s meter, but the driver insisted that she should add P40 for the short side trip she made when picking up her daughter at a school nearby.

“’This cab driver called me ‘magulang and made a scene at SM aura.’
From our place in Taguig was going to SM aura, but i had to pick up daughter in Acacia (sobrang lapit lang at on the way naman). When i was paying him P145 as what was in his meter, he said plus 40 kasi daw nag side trip kami. I said ‘di ko naman po pinahinto yun meter nyo ha nun dumaan tayo acacia.’ Ganun daw talaga. I was not in the mood to argue so I gave him 1k but sinuklian nya ako ng 800 lang. So i said, kulang sukli ko. Wala daw syang barya. Ay tarantado to..”
According to Dineros, she hailed a cab in her home in Taguig, heading to a shopping mall. She had to make a quick stop as she was picking up her daughter from school which was located in a nearby place that they would pass through as it was along the way.
However, when she was paying for the due amount of the fare indicated on the taxi meter, the driver told her to add P40 more because of the quick stop she made earlier. She decided to let it pass because she wasn’t in the mood to argue with the driver.
But, when he handed her the change for her money, the driver only gave him P800 instead of P815. Dineros talked to the driver saying the change he gave isn’t enough, to which he answered saying he doesn’t have any coins.
“Sabi ko, ‘mali naman yan, dinagdagan na kita tapos kulang pa isusukli mo.’ Sinabihan ba naman ako ganun talaga at wala syang barya. So bumaba na kami but i told him ‘mali yan ginagawa nyo.pang gugulang na yan.’ Thats when he insisted na walang mali sa ginawa nya at bumaba sya ng cab nya at lumabas pa. Shouting at me na magulang daw ako, kasi ayaw ko magulangan, hindi daw ako marunong sumakay sa taxi. Sabay hampas ng hood nya. Tangnang logic yan oh! Paulit ulit nya sinisigaw yun sa harap ng ibang tao. Pinagtitinginan na kami so i had to walk it out and ilayo anak ko.
Sobrang swerte nya talaga at kasama ko anak ko.
#LTRFB #LTO so etong mga aruganteng mga to ang recommended nyo kesa #Uber at #Grab???”
Dineros gave him a comment saying what he did was wrong, considering that she already added P40 to the actual amount but he said it can’t be helped since he didn’t have coins. Again, she criticized what he did saying it wasn’t fair and that he was trying to outsmart a passenger.
Unexpectedly, the driver went out of his cab as well and began yelling at her saying that it was her who was trying to outsmart him. He even added that Dineros doesn’t know how to ride a cab repeatedly, before hitting the hood of his vehicle.
She was already fearful of the situation and decided to get her child away.
On the other hand, the netizens who had read her post encouraged her to report the incident to the authorities. Some also shared their experiences with taxi drivers, while the others confirmed that there are a lot of drivers who do the same tactic to outsmart their passengers and get a bigger pay.
Now that the authorities are encouraging passengers to ride with regular taxis than Uber and Grab, what do you think will happen? Will incidents like these happen more often?
