Study says your partner is more likely to cheat because of this REASON

  • Researchers have found that physical attractiveness is one of the key factors that can indicate a tendency to cheat.
  • Being physically attractive gives the person more opportunity to cheat as they are deemed desirable by everyone else.

Do you ever wonder what makes a person more susceptible to cheating?

Based on a new research carried out by Harvard researchers, there’s a quality that could help you predict whether your partner will be unfaithful. As you may have guessed, physical attractiveness is one of the key factors that can indicate a tendency to stray.

In the study, social psychologist Christine Ma-Kellams and her team looked into two study groups to determine the connection between physical attractiveness and the duration of the romantic relationship.

The team of researchers gave the first group the impression that they were particularly good-looking, while the other group was made to feel the opposite. Afterwards, both groups were shown photos of physically unattractive people who were about the same age as they were.

They were then asked to evaluate the people in the photos based on attractiveness. Meanwhile, those in the unattractive group had the tendency to give lower attractiveness ratings.

Moreover, the study also indicated that people who were regarded as good-looking when they graduated from high school had been through more breakups and divorces in the next 10 to 20 years compared to unattractive peers.

Results revealed that those in the good-looking group have higher attractiveness ratings.

So what could be the reason behind this?

Researchers offered an explanation you might have guessed by now.

“The reason, you might guess, is simple: Pretty people are seen as desirable not just by you, but by everyone else. Sporting a beautiful partner on your arm is like waving a biscuit in front of your dog — almost too irresistible to pass up. As stated in research that Ma-Kellams et al. cite, ‘More physically attractive individuals are more frequently the target of poaching attempts’”, Psychology Today writes.

Aside from physical attractiveness, the level of satisfaction with the current relationship is also a major factor in predicting unfaithfulness.
