- True essence of being a godparent revealed
- Netizen shares how she got nagged by her godchild’s parents
Ninang, ninang
Dyanne Jordan Montiero is tired of getting nagged by the parents of her godchildren. So, she vented out online and discussed some really important matter with being a ninang.
She cited her experience with a friend, one of her godchildren’s mother, where she got messaged religiously reminding her the past Christmas she did not give her godchild a holiday money.
“Ako, hindi po ako tumatanggi magninang. Kaya nga ang dami na ng inaanak ko,” she began her retort.
In her story, she said that she always makes sure to spare a budget for her almost 30 godchildren. But enough is enough. When this unnamed friend got on her nerves, she put the matter into her own hands.
“Nagninang po ako para magguide sa kanila habang lumalaki. Hindi para maging financer,” she shared a piece of her thoughts.
She could not believe that some would get really low, even suggesting her to send the money via mobile wallet service. Montiero shared her sentiments online as to what role ninangs get to play in their godchildren’s life.
In the end, she imparted a message that is truly timely and relatable for everyone.
“Alam ko po yung essence ng Pasko na magbigayan at magmahalan. Kaya di niyo na po ako kelangan iremind.”
Lesson here guys is that, we shouldn’t demand for gifts or anything from anyone. They too have bills to pay. On the flip side, to the ninangs and ninongs don’t go into this kind of “subscriptive” deals such as being a godparents just to please the parents and without taking responsibility once the godchild asks for a little favor. It’s a responsibility after all.
However, it’s holiday season. Let’s give and share the love as it is more important than gifts of material things and the likes.
