Risk of eating processed
A recent study at the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom revealed that post-menopausal women who consume nine grams of processed meat in a week are more prone to develop breast cancer.
The said study tested 273,466 women, ages 40 to 69 years old. After their observation, the researchers have concluded that even those who eat processed meat less than nine grams a week still have 15% more chances of getting breast cancer than those who did not eat processed food at all.
“In addition to the previously known effects of processed meat on other kinds of cancer, this adds further evidence that it may have a deleterious effect on breast cancer, particularly in post-menopausal women,” Naveed Sattar, co-author, shared.
