Veteran actor Bernardo Bernardo appeals for prayers; reveals there is a tumor in his pancreas

  • Veteran actor Bernardo C. Bernardo, known as BB, asked prayers from Facebook on severing sickness
  • Bernardo remains hopeful that he will get past his condition

Sometimes, it’s the small things that go far in this world. Gestures such as a tap on the back, a hug, or a prayer can create an impact on a person most especially when they are in difficult times.

Veteran stage actor Bernardo Bernardo, popularly known as BB, got diagnosed with a pancreatic tumor recently. He now asks friends and followers to spare a little time of prayer for his well-being.

The 72-year-old artist recently appeared on 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Ang Larawan,” where he played the role of Don Alvaro. On a Facebook post last Friday, BB shared an “In The Moment” update on his sickness.

“Last month, after a series of lab tests (including an ultrasound and CT Scan), my medical specialist friends at the UST hospital, a gastroenterologist and an oncologist, shared their findings: (in layman’s terms) my pancreas is swollen because of a tumor, possibly malignant, growing in the head of the pancreas.”

Bernardo believes that nothing is impossible with prayers. Given his history of clinical depression and anxiety attacks, he sure had tough times that needed the power of the Almighty.

Due to his worsening condition, BB admitted that he lost appetite for food and, consequently, lost a lot of weight at an alarming rate in such a short span of time.

“After another series of lab tests, I’m scheduled for an Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) that allows for fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy (to determine if the tumor is malignant); and/or ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography), where diagnosis and treatment, using stents, can take place during the same procedure.”

Despite all these, the actor stressed that he wants to stay positive. He assures his fans and friends that he will fight one step at a time until he surpasses his current medical prognosis.

BB cheerfully added: “But cameras are kind. They do not capture the very real pain and fear of the unknown, the hidden costs of this medical journey that has put me in Controlled Panic Mode.”

We wish you well, Bernardo!
