Jennica Garcia makes own placenta smoothie after childbirth three days ago.
The actress shared a photo of her newly born baby on Instagram with her umbilical cord and placenta still attached.
She stated that she’s so excited to share the birth story of her child with the hashtag #FullLotusBirth
Lotus Birth refers to the practice of keeping the umbilical cord and placenta of the baby uncut upon childbirth. The cord is said to naturally detach from the baby’s belly button three to ten days after birth.
“I am so excited to share the Birth Story of our second child with you, but for now, I hope this will do…. Meet our little angel and her sister placenta. They are on their third day together now. #FullLotusBirth”
In the next photo, Jennica shows a cup of fruit smoothie held by her husband.
The smoothie isn’t your regular smoothie as it is blended with her daughter’s placenta. She also said that they’ve also kept a few portions in their freezer for future usage.
“Blended with it, is a small piece of my daughter’s own placenta. To my surprise, my husband, drank two sips from my smoothie before handing it over to me! 😂 Kaya siguro mahal na mahal ko ang asawa ko. Alam kong naiintindihan at suportado niya ako, gaano man ka-iba ang nais kong tahakin na landas. While most would probably take the smoothie in one go, being worried that there might actually be a foul taste or smell from the placenta, I took a sweet time drinking mine and enjoyed every moment of it.”

According to Fiona Ford, dietitian for the British Dietetic Association, “There is no scientific evidence at all for any of the supposed benefits of eating placenta, whether whole or in capsule form. The placenta is full of vitamins, but there’s no guarantee that – even though they’re in large amounts – they’re going to the right place and doing the right job.”
