MUMUSO: Is it really a Korean brand?

• Brand MUMUSO is being speculated of falsely claiming that their brand is established in Korea
• MUMUSO has established business in Korea but has not yet recorded any business activities

In line with the rapid increased of the popularity of a brand named MUMUSO that has been opening all around the world and claiming itself as a Korean brand, the Korean media just expressed suspicion regarding what it really is.

It turns out that the brand isn’t exactly what it is claiming to be.

A Korean show studied and exposed the tricks of the brand to make people think that they are a trusted product from Korea, but in fact, the brand’s headquarters is located in China.

Moreover, the Korean address printed in the products are also fake.

It was also found out that their product designs, especially their skin care line, is almost identical to well known Korean products from well trusted companies.

The hosts of the show also stated that Korean words written on the products itself make no sense to native speakers.

One of their main concerns is products of the brand are being sold all over the world as Korean. A citizen expressed her worries that if something bad happens to the customers of Mumuso, Korea might be dragged into the issue.

According to Deputy Director Park Jong Pil of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, it has been recorded that Mumuso has established business in the country but their activities remains unconfirmed.

Not only Mumuso, but many other retail brands, including Miniso and Daiso were caught up in this scandal.
