However, you should actually pay attention to your vaginal scent as it can be a sign of an infection. According to Dr. Lulu Marquez, one example is if your vaginal scent is similar to the smell of a fish, it may be a sign of a sexually transmitted disease.
It is advised that in case feel like you have this symptom, you should pay a visit to your local obstetrician-gynecologist or OB-GYN.
If your vagina smells something like cheese or old bread, it may be a sign of a yeast infection.
But if it has a musky smell, Marquez that it shouldn’t be much of a problem.
“A healthy vagina will usually have some sort of smell. But the scent may vary from day to day depending on how active you are,
If it has a musky smell, it means that you’re just sweating down there.”
It can also smell acidic depending on what lubricants or condom you and your partner used during sex.
“Your vagina might smell differently depending on the lubricants you’ve used during sex or whether or not you’ve used a condom… It may smell like bleach, but it’s okay. Nothing to worry about.”
And if your vagina smells sweet?
“What you eat can make your vagina smell differently… if you eat oranges, pineapple, grapefruit, [these have] been known to sweeten the smell and the taste of vaginal fluids,”
