- Manny Pacquiao gears up for his upcoming fight with Lucas Matthysse.
- Mommy Dionisia states that she has started praying for her son’s upcoming competition.
- Filipinos, including politicians, have expressed their support for the athlete.
“Pambansang Kamao” Manny Pacquiao‘s upcoming fight with Argentinean boxer Lucas Matthysse is fast approaching and the boxer’s training is more intense than ever.
A number of Filipinos flew to Malaysia to show their support for the boxer. But of course, Manny’s whole family and including his wife Jinkee will also be present to watch her husband’s fight.
Along with Pacquiao’s preparations, his mother Mommy Dionisia is also starting her routine by praying for her son’s fight this July 15.
“Ang sabi ko kay Manny, payagan niya lang akong hawakan siya sa ulo para maipagdasal ko siya. Malaki ang nagagawa ng dasal ng ina sa anak niya. Kunsabagay, madasalin naman si Manny, matindi ang paniniwala niya sa ating Panginoon,” she shared.
Politicians also expressed their support for the boxer as a few members of the Philippine government confirmed their attendance in the said fight. This includes President Rodrigo Duterte as he’s planned to attend the fight as he will also be in Malaysia for a meeting with the country’s head officials regarding Overseas Filipino Workers there.
The politicians have clarified that they will be using their own money in their trips, not from the government’s coffers.
Pacquiao’s conditioning coach Justin Fortune has confirmed his condition for the fight. “Manny’s 40 this year and you know we changed things up this time. We did a whole bunch of different work. We were shocking his system back into working. He’s been doing the same stuff for 16 years so he probably gets so used to it.”
Fortune also said that they have tried a more intense style if training. He stated, “But now it’s a different style of training — shorter, faster and more intense. So his body reacts differently. So that’s why he looks like the old Pacquiao.”
Manny Pacquiao and Lucas Matthysse are competing for the WBA Welterweight Division.
