- Gina Lopez shares the cleanliness and beauty of Tawi-Tawi
- Tawi-Tawi is the province in the southernmost part of the Philippines
In a Facebook posted on environmentalist and philanthropist Gina Lopez’s account, she showcased the beauty of the seas of Tawi-Tawi.
“There’s a pristineness, an innocence to Tawi-Tawi because not many have been… It’s nearer Malaysia than it is to Manila… The goal is to drive traffic here and keep the area really clean and beautiful… My goodness!!! Look at that water!!!”
She also added a few photos that shows the clarity of the sea water.
Tawi-Tawi is an island province located in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao or ARMM. It is the southernmost province of the country, sharing sea boarders with Malaysian state Sabah and Indonesian North Kalimantan province.
It is the home of the country’s most feared terrorist group and only few tourists that can reach the province will have to arrange their trip with the local tourism office for security reasons. It is said that the transportation outside the capital Bongao is limited.
Tawi-Tawi is also the largest seaweed producing province in the country. 80 percent of the residents earn their living from seaweed farming.
In Gina Lopez’s video, she stated how amazing the view is.
“Unbelievable like crazy. I’ve never seen anything so magnificently beautiful. You know if you look at the water, it’s just different. I don’t know if you can feel. It’s the energy, eh. And that looks like white sand… but look at that beach. The place feels like really really pristine. That’s why they have a lot of seaweed here because seaweed grows on clean water…So i want tell you something, Tawi-Tawi is more peaceful than Manila. So come to Tawi-Tawi. And the people here are so nice.”
