Jaywalking is one of the offenses that often violated by citizens on the streets, which Jay Florez have violated. He was apprehended by a group of policemen along Anonas, which he thought was unfair for the treatment he got from these law enforcers. A Facebook post was all he could muster to do after he got threatened that he’ll be placed behind bars for the first-time offense he did.
In a post dated July 26, he narrated how he was brought to the police station and was threatened to be jailed for his violation.
The Netizen clarified that he knew that crossing the road in that intersection is not allowed, however, when the traffic light is red, usually a lot of people get to cross the said street.
Florez thought that the enforcers were there to assist those who are crossing but they proceeded to call him out, “Nakatawid ako hanggang sa gitna tapos bigla kong narinig na sumigaw si PO1 Paulino, sinita niya ako, galit siya agad (kasi patawid palang daw ako sinita na niya ako, hindi ko naman un narinig kasi nga naka-earphone ako) So, bumalik ako sa mcdo para kunin nila iyong information ko.”
PO1 Paulino told him that they only let the elderly cross the street, but Florez emphasized that he observed that there were still youngsters who get away from that violation. After another policeman called PO1 Red who got his information, and informed him that he will be brought to the police station.

“Sabi niya bigla dadalhin daw nila ako sa presinto at iyong words niya na “AABALAHIN KA MUNA NAMIN” tapos malakas boses niya, parang iskandaloso, ramdam ko iyong gigil niya sa akin eh. Shookt ako, kasi ang alam ko kukuhain lang information ko tapos bigla akong dadalhin sa presinto.”
That’s when Florez started getting confused and annoyed. When a third policeman came, he said that they only needed his information but they ended up waiting for the police mobile for more than an hour.
When they arrived at the police station, the enforcers informed him that they’re going to put him in jail.
“Tinanong ko ano kaso, Jaywalking daw, binasahan na ako ng MIRANDA RIGHTS ni PO1 Red at sinabihan na rin ako na humanap daw ako ng abugado ko.”
This went on until the chief of the police station arrived and clarified that they only need his information since it’s only his first offense.
