Student allowed by her teacher to bring her baby to school

It’s not a normal scenario for a student to bring her child to school, especially that it may distract her from her studies.

However, a student of the Phinma Cagayan de Oro College did not hesitate to ask her professor for permission to bring her baby in class. 20 year-old Maria Mercedes Besas told her professor Kenth Rafisura that there was no one to take care of her baby at home so she had no choice but to let her child tag along with her.

My student asked me if pwede ba daw na dal on niya iya baby kay walay magbantay and of course I said yes. Naa pud iyang mga classmates nga supportive kaayo mutunaw sa gatas. Laban lang jud ta langga. Matatapos ka din.

What touched the professor was the kindness of Mercedes’ classmates. They helped her take care and prepare milk for the baby.

Kenth stated that even if it’s not a usual thing for students to do, he felt empathetic about the young mother’s situation as his mom also experienced almost the similar thing.

“My mom used to tell me na way back when I was still a kid, dinadala niya daw ako sa school niya (she gave birth to me at the age of 18 and continued her studies after giving birth). I feel happy also because di nag absent si Mercedes. Her kid is so good with people. Di umiiyak sa loob ng class kahit andaming tao.” he wrote.

His tweet has now reached more than 2,200 retweets and 14,700 likes. Netizens commended the professor for his understanding and expressed their support for Mercedes.
