- Sushine Cruz spilled details about her stormy marriage to former husband Cesar Montano.
- She said that he once accused her of sleeping with all of her co-stars in her movies.
Celebrity couple Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano have officially separated five years ago but it was only recently that their annulment was granted by the courts.
Her marriage to the actor was said to be real but also “dark and chaotic” according to a report by Pep.ph.
“I know, I know that he really loved me, alam ko yun.
“He will not marry me if he does not love me – and I love him very much, really I fell for him.
“I really loved him especially when I watched him as Jose Rizal.”
But the union turned out far from the fairytale ending she was looking forward to as their 2000 wedding nearly didn’t happen.
“I was calling off the wedding. I called Tita Norma Japitana, and I said, ‘The wedding is off! Ayoko na, ayoko na!’
“Kasi meron siyang nasabi sa akin–hindi maganda. Basta ang baboy, ang baboy. Hindi maganda, hindi talaga kaaya-aya.
“I called off the wedding.”
But Montano apparently convinced her to pus through with the wedding; however, as soon as their honeymoon happened, his temper resurfaced again.
“Masakit man aminin, pero honeymoon pa lang, tinapon niya yung wedding ring namin sa ano, nung nag-Carribean cruise kami.”
She said that her then husband wanted her to admit that she had slept with not just one of her leading men in her past movies, but all of them.
Cruz even admitted that there was a lot of outbursts throughout their marriage that it outnumbers the times that her husband was calm.
“Yun nga, tinapon niya yung wedding ring namin… Siguro, mas marami yung times na ganun siya, kesa yung kalmado siya.
“And I was thinking na, maybe, it was just yung pagpapalaki sa kanya, upbringing niya.
“Baka talaga medyo may temper lang. Yun yung iniisip ko–may temper lang.
“‘Tapos, lagi sa ‘kin sinasabi ng ibang tao na, ‘Maybe you just have to prove your worth as a person.’ Ganun na lang lagi.
“That’s what I did. Napasubo na ako, kasal na ako–anong gagawin ko?”
The actress also added that Montano even told her that she’s just a bold star.
“I would leave, then babalik ako, ganun. Parang, kasi, sinasabi niya bold star lang naman ako, wala nang kukuha sa ‘kin… Kung before po makikita niyo ako, di ba lagi lang akong nakatungo? Parang hiyang-hiya ako sa sarili ko, kasi sarili kong asawa ganun yung tingin sa ‘kin–what more yung ibang tao? Yun po iniisip ko,”
In 2013, the year Cruz officially filed for annulment, Montano allegedly had an affair with his movie co-star Krista Miller.
When asked for a message to her ex-husband, Cruz said “Kung meron mang pinagpapasalamat sa kaniya—lumakas ako, naging matapang, natuto akong lumaban, hindi ko nagagawa yun noon! At, siyempre, binigyan niya ako ng tatlong mga anak.”
Cruz is currently in a relationship with businessman Macky Mathay.
