- Yam Concepcion talked about the hate messages she’s been getting because of her character in “Halik.”
- She said she’s shocked upon realizing that people get so affected by her role as Jade.
Yam Concepcion, who plays Jade in ABS-CBN‘s teleserye Halik, admitted that she does get hate because of the viewer’s annoyance towards her character.
In the story, Jade is the cheating wife of Lino (Jericho Rosales) who is having an affair with Ace (Sam Milby), the husband of Jacky (Yen Santos).
She said that since her role is not exactly that lovable, she knew that she’ll get hate here and there.
But in a Facebook interview with Pep.ph, she expressed her surprise when the hate messages started crossing the line. “Pero hindi ko akalain na aabot sa ganito na talagang sobra na yung hate na yung iba pinepersonal na!
“Hay naku talaga, may mga nagse-send sa akin na—hindi naman siguro death threats, di ko alam kung ganon kalala, pero ang dami nagme-message sa akin na ‘Hoy, malandi ka, p*kp*k ka!’ o ‘Alam mo, makita kita lang kita sa daan, baka masabunutan kita!’
“Basta ang daming mga ganun, nakakatakot siya na parang, wow, talagang ganun sila ka-affected na pati ako, nagugulat.”
She added that it even reached the point that even her mom started getting negative comments.
“At saka ngayon, talagang lahat napapansin na nila, sabi sa akin ng mom ko na may nababasa siya na parang pati ata siya, binabash na rin! Tinatag siya or even if some of my family members, parang tinatag din nila ng kung ano-anong pinagsasabi tungkol sa akin.”
“Parang sobra nila masyadong pine-personal yung ibang bagay, even yung iba, binabalik nila yung mga dati kong nagawa—yung mga movies ko noon, yung Rigodon.”
Yam added that she just finds it funny that some people would think that the characters she plays reflect her real personality.
“They’re basing my character sa mga nagawa kong characters noon at ngayon na parang, guys, mga character lang yan, that’s not my real self, these are just characters that I’m portraying. Nakakatawa kasi talagang ganun!”
On the other hand, she’s still happy about the response that their show is getting. It just shows that the people appreciate the team’s hard work to make the show as it is.
“But you know, I’m very happy that our show is getting good reviews, maraming sumusubaybay sa show namin at saka natutuwa din ako kasi na-a-appreciate ng tao yung hardwork na binibigay naming lahat para mapaganda yung show.”
She then expressed her gratitude toward the writers and directors of “Halik.”
“Basically lahat ng ito dahil sa teamwork naming lahat as a team sa Halik. And of course kudos also to the writers kasi dahil sa kanila, sila nakapag isip ng ganitong characters, ng ganitong plot. Even our directors for mounting scenes na talagang napakahirap gawin pero talagang ang galing ng pagkakagawa.”
