- Older children tend to get more mental stimulation
Among siblings, it is in our minds that the oldest sibling knows everything. Well, a study shows that the oldest sibling happens to be the smartest sibling.
A study was conducted by the Economist at the University of Edinburgh. It shows that the oldest children in the family excelled when it comes to matching letters, reading single words out loud, remembering names, and on reading tests, so with picture vocabulary tests.
Therefore, a first born child tends to score higher in IQ tesst and tend to have better-thinking skills.

Another reason that may support this study is by observing first-time parents who tend to be more enthusiastic about raising their children, where they provide more emotional support to their first-born child.
It means that older children tend to get more mental stimulation and attention to than other children.
Having more children tends to change the behavior of parents where less attention is given to the younger kids like spending time reading books, and teaching their child to play musical instruments. Thus, the study also showed that parents with more children are getting busier.

“Our results suggest that broad shifts in parental behavior are a plausible explanation for the observed birth order differences in education and labor market outcomes,” Dr. Ana Nuevo-Chiquero said from Edinburgh University School of Economist.
All of us have our own brilliance but this study has claimed that the smartest of all are the oldest siblings.
