- Woman reveals the darker side of online shopping with its ‘riders’
- A Facebook user shares story of a rider who was kept waiting for an hour
- Bea Aspiras calls on every online shopper to treat deliverymen with respect
Online shopping has become more and more popular in the Philippines, for its gift of convenience towards its customers. But a Facebook user shed light to one of its ignored aspects — the delivery business side of the said enterprise.
Bea Aspiras shared in her account two pictures of a man sitting under the shade of a nearby gate. Upon looking closely, the man can be recognized as a “rider” for an online shopping site. He is waiting for a customer to pick up the package he has delivered.
“Ngayon lang ako mag popost ng ganito, and this is for every person using online shopping.”

“Nakita ko si Manong rider sa labas ng ganito almost 1hr din syang nag hintay dun sa customer. Honestly, nakakaawa talaga sila makitang ganito lalo na’t pag nakita mo yung itsura nila na halatang pagod na. Nung lumabas yung customer, binati sya ni Manong nang nakangiti. And he’s old na guys but still manage to do his job. Kudos to you Manong 🙏🏻”
Aspiras mentioned in her post that she saw the man waiting outside for almost one hour before the customer appeared.
Aspiras described that the customer greeted the delivery man with a smile, but despite it, she did not look like she cared if the man waited for a long time.
“Kaya guys, di nila deserve saktan at murahin. They’re patiently waiting for us to get our order/s, yung ibang customers lang talaga walang patience minsan… di po natin alam kung ano lagay nila sa kalsada, respeto nalang po sa trabaho nila…”

The netizen then gave her two cents on the matter, expressing that she felt bad for riders in general as their job is very taxing and the person in her pictures appeared to be very tired already.
The delivery man looked to be doing his best, notwithstanding his old age, Aspiras observed, and she salutes him for that.

She ended her post by telling her fellow online shoppers that riders for online shopping sites should be treated with respect and do not deserve to be mistreated, especially as one would not know the riders’ circumstances and experiences on the road.
