- Mayor Kit Nieto pays for citizen’s hospital bill
- The patient dies, but Mayor took care of the funeral services
A netizen named Homer Orca posted a story on Facebook on how Mayor Kit Nieto of Cainta helped his family out during a crisis.
On March 28, Homer’s parent-in-law suffered a stroke. The in-law was initially confined at a private hospital where the bill increased with every hour they were there. When the amount reached 67,000, they decided they could no longer afford it and sought for the patient to be transferred to the ICU of Cainta Hospital instead.
They called all public hospitals but none were able to accept patients.
Then Homer remembered one time when a non-Cainta resident asked for Nieto’s help and got it easily.
“Out of nowhere bigla ko naisip na ilapit kay Mayor Kit dahil naalala ko na merong isang hindi taga Cainta na lumapit sa kanya at walang dalawang salitang tinulungan nya ito.”
They decided to call somebody close to the mayor, Lyndon Batanes, to ask for help.
Batanes advised them to bring the patient straight to the ICU, but no beds were still available.
Batanes sent one of his men to talk to the authorized personnel at the Cainta Hospital and the hospital eventually said that they would accept the patient in the ER.
Homer and his family were so thankful for the help they received from Nieto and Batanes.
Homer observed that the hospital staff were really accommodating towards them and to other patients.
“Hindi ko makakalimutan yung sinabi nya nung nagpasalamat ako at sinabing hindi naman kami taga Cainta.. ‘Ayos lang yun basta kaya…‘” Homer said.
“Basta sa kanya PAGTULONG, PAGLILINGKOD, PAGIGING MAKATAO...”.
Unfortunately, the patient did not make it but Nieto’s help did not stop there. To their surprise, Homer and his family did not have to pay anything to the hospital. Even the funeral services were handled by Nieto.
“Mayor sa pagpapatuloy sa amin sa kanilang ospital kundi maging sa magiging bill namin… nagulat kami, ZERO. Wala kaming binayaran ni piso. Pati sa funeral service.. kaya GRABE KA MAYOR KIT!!!”
He wishes Nieto would continue serving his people.
“Maraming maraming maraming salamat po muli. Bahala na po si God na bumawi sa mga kabutihan ninyo. Sana mas tumagal pa po kayo sa serbisyo publiko.”
