A Filipina student brings pride to all Filipinos as she graduated with the highest distinction in the largest public university in Thailand.

At Ramkhanmhaeng University (RU) Institute of International Studies in Bangkok, Thailand, a Filipino student named Nicole Louise Nicolas Poblete graduated Summa cum laude with a degree in Mass Communication major in Radio and TV Broadcasting.

Poblete originally came from Laoag City, Philippines with her parents. But because they have decided to become missionaries in Thailand, they left the Philippines.

Both parents are serving in church, her Father Aldrin is a senior pastor at Every Nation Church in Bangkok and her mother, aside from serving in church, also works as a teacher.

To adjust to her new way of life in Thailand was not easy, as she recalls she needed to strive so hard to adopt to the Thai culture and language.

“Nahirapan talaga akong mag-adjust sa culture at language noong una. My friends and the people I’ve met, sila talaga (ang)tumulong sa akin.”

In an interview with ABS-CBN, she said that she felt so thankful and blessed for having the opportunity to have an education.

Not everyone has the privilege to get education. If you are fortunate enough, make the most out of it and be thankful.

During Poblete’s elementary and high school days in Laoag City, she was a consistent honor student and even in Thailand she never failed to make her parents proud of her.

To inspire everyone, she shared her advice on how to achieve your goals in life.

My advice when it comes to success is to not wait for life to be easy kasi kung ‘yun ang hinihintay n’yo, wala tayong mapapala.”

Poblete shared with PinoyThaiyo a quote that she offered her success to God and to use it to help others.

The role of education is not simply to make us smart. God has gifted us with talents and abilities to be used, ultimately, for His plan; that is where education comes in, to hone our God-given skills to serve a purpose greater than ourselves.
