Recently, a Filipino fishing boat collided with a Chinese vessel at Recto Bank. The F/B Gem-Ver1 sank and the Chinese did not offer any help and abandoned the men at sea.
According to the fishermen, the whole thing was intentional, but the Chinese labeled it as accidental.
President Rodrigo Duterte downplayed the whole incident and called it a “little maritime accident.”
This might be what triggered the wife of F/B Gem-Ver1‘s captain Junel Insigne, Lanie Insigne, to make a statement against Duterte She said that she voted for Duterte, but the way he handled the whole incident was cowardly.
Netizens are now saying that she got paid by the opposition to say those things.
But one good friend of the Insignes had the initiative to clear things up.
Michelle Mores went to the Insigne’s house and asked their permission for her to share their story.
Junel and Lanie Insigne have two daughters that they are raising. Lanie sells food throughout the day and sells barbecue in the afternoon until night.
Michelle is really pissed at the people who are bashing the Insigne family.
Lanie told Michelle that she had to borrow 2,000 pesos just so she could have money to buy barbecue.
“Chelle, wala kaming kapera-pera ngayon,” Lanie told Michelle as she was crying.
Michelle then said that if it is true that the Insigne family is getting paid, then the wouldn’t be struggling financially.
Michelle then asked the Filipino people if this is the attitude they would like to pass down to the next generation.
