- Wowowin contestant surprised his own sister and the audience after he came out as bisexual.
- He said that he was having a hard time keeping it a secret so he decided to get it off his chest and just tell them the truth.
- His boyfriend showed his support by expressing how proud he is of his partner.
A barista came out during an appearance on Wowowin.
Wowowin contestant and barista Ambet told everyone that he was bisexual. The audience which included his sister was shocked by his confession.
The segment started normally, with Ambet’s sister telling him inspirational messages like how he’s currently living her sister’s dream.
“Nagpapasalamat ako’t tinuloy mo yang pagiging barista mo. Proud ako sa’yo,” his sister, Janet, said.
Ambet then answered her with a heartwarming message, saying that he’s thankful for his sister who became like a second mother to him.
“Ate maraming maraming salamat kasi nung simulang nahiwalay ako kila mama’t papa kasi nasa probinsya sila, ikaw yung tumayong pangalawang nanay ko. Kasi tinutukan mo yung pag-aaral ko. Maraming maraming salamat kasi lagi kang nanjan, nakasuporta sa lahat ng ginagawa ko. Kahit marami tayong pinagdadaanan ngayon, malalagpasan natin ‘to.”
Ambet then said that he had a secret to tell, not just for the viewers of the show, but for his family as well. He immediately said that he’s bi and he has a boyfriend. He was scared of telling the truth to his sister because he doesn’t know how she’ll take it.
“Isa pa ate, magtatapat ako sayo. Matagal ko na kasi ‘tong tinatago sa inyo. Wala kasing nakakaalam sa pamilya natin, kahit si mama’t papa. Isa po akong bi ate. At yung sinasabi kong kasintahan ko is hindi babae, isa pong lalaki.”
The contestant added that he was scared of telling the truth to his family because he did not know how they’ll react. This resulted in his regular struggles of not knowing how to act around them and keeping himself inside a box.
“Nagmahal lang naman ako. Dito kasi ako nagiging masaya. Na tuwing uuwi ako ng bahay, yung galaw ko binabantayan ko kasi natatakot akong mahusgahan at sabihin niyo na hinti niyo ko tanggap sa sitwasyon ko ngayon. Sobrang nahihirapan ako tuwing uuwi ako, wala akong makausap.
“Pag may problema ako tungkol sa ganong relasyon, ang hirap kaso solo lang ako. Lahat kayo may pamilya na. Ako nalang yung nag-iisa. Marami na akong pinagdaanan ‘te, nang hindi niyo alam. Nung time na na-depress ako kasi feeling ko wala akong kakampi, di ko masabi yung totoong ako. Di ako makawala sa box. Kaya nagpapasalamat ako sa pagkakataon na to kasi naglakas luob ako na sabihin sa inyo.”
When host Willie Revillame asked the reason behind his decision to come out during Wowowin, he answered, “Pumunta ako dito sa Wowowin para maging inspirasyon sa mga katulad ko na nahihirapan din sa kanilang tinatago. Wag tayong matakot na ilabas yung totoong tayo kasi saying [the] truth will set you free.”
Another unexpected thing that happened as Ambet said that his boyfriend was actually there watching everything. He then showed himself and gave a simple but meaningful message to the contestant.
“Sobrang proud na proud ako sayo. Kasi ako madali akong natanggap eh. Di ko kailangan umamin… Nagulat nga rin po ako nung sinabi niyang gusto niyang umamin. Parang sinabi ko ‘sure ka na ba?’ Pero sobra sobrang proud ako. Ate salamat po.
“Maraming maraming salamat. Walang mali sa pagmamahal. Tandaan mo yan.”
On his social media account, Ambet tweeted a clip of their emotional hug during the show, thanking Wowowin for the acceptance.

The couple said that they will be going to Ambet’s province soon to face his family.
